Are you up for a winter challenge that will help improve the Meramec Watershed? Join us for a special Operation Clean Stream winter cleanup on Saturday December 8th in Lower Meramec Park. This cleanup is focused on recovering large, difficult items left from dump sites and flooding, and requires volunteers to have strength, endurance, and a passion for cleaning our parks!
Our cleanup will be on Saturday, December 8th from 9am-12pm. Check in and registration is at 8:45am. Volunteers will meet in the Lower Meramec Park Parking Lot (off 6841 Holzer Park Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128).
We have identified large debris and dump sites within the park, and volunteers will be sent in groups to remove this trash and haul it to the edge of the woods at pick-up sites. We will provide cards with the GPS coordinates of dump sites for volunteers to navigate to the debris. We highly recommend volunteers come equipped with a smartphone for navigation and their own shovel. Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
Due to the terrain at the clean up site, we ask that all volunteers are at least 15 years old and that youth volunteers be accompanied by a guardian. Work gloves and some tools will be provided.
In case of severe inclement weather, this event will be moved to Saturday, March 16th, 2019.
Special thanks to Great Rivers Greenway, Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, St. Louis County Parks, and Missouri Stream Teams for supporting this event!
