What is Swim Guide?

Swim Guide is a website and smartphone app that connects millions of people to clean beaches and swimming holes. It helps you find your closest beaches and know at a glance where to go swimming. It empowers you to protect your local waterways by sharing photos, stories, and reporting pollution so together we can act to restore and maintain swimmable, fishable, drinkable waters.

Swim Guide helps protect public health by showing you where the water is clean enough to swim and alerts you to contamination. Missouri Confluence Waterkeeper posts water quality information for rivers and streams throughout Missouri, but you can find beach data for over 8,000 beaches in six countries on Swim Guide. So download the app and take it with you when you travel!

By donating to this campaign, your contributions will help cover lab and sampling equipment, collection and processing costs, and will allow us to make data readily available and accessible to the public.

For every donation of $10 or more, you will become a member of the Missouri Confluence Waterkeeper Swim Club. We’ll send you a coozie and a sticker and tag you on social media the next time we collect samples.

How do I use Swim Guide?

The app uses real time E. coli data to flag beaches that are safe or unsafe for swimming, or have no data. While Swim Guide does not consider toxic pollution or other potential environmental concerns, users can report any pollution concerns such as water quality, litter, minor spills, or other problems.
